Lord of the Flies Group Theme Project

In William Golding's Lord of the Flies, Golding believes that people have evil within them, and it is their job to keep it in check if they wish to have a moral and just society. He shows this through his characters such as Ralph, Jack and Simon, each representing different aspects of this theme. Ralph and Simon represent the part of this theme that wants to keep the moral and just society by keeping the evil inside them in check. Jack, however, just wants to hunt and he lets his evil run rampant. Jack and his followers are only concerned with the hunt and have no feelings for being rescued and therefore have no need for a just society. This theme is very universal and has been reflected in past leaders, sports heroes and political figures.

Ralph, the leader of the idea of having a moral and just society.

Piggy, the follower and acquiantance and advisor to Ralph.

Jack does not believe in moral and just society, but would rather hunt and be savage and let the evil within them take over.
